Pictures supplied by Lyndon Atkinson of his cabriolet
and camper.
Thought I'd send you a picture of My '71 'Sandy
Bay'. Bought her in May 2001 (1 week before RTTS!!) and she was green, red,
orange and, well primer really! Lowered with a cut & turn job on the front
and disc brake conversion (How many times have I needed that!!). Single port
1600 engine and leaky carb (Nice backfires!!) which I am currently sorting. The
paint finish is Plasticote 'Fleck Stone' blue with hammerite radiator enamel on
the bumpers and a good bit of t-cut on the original white top section. Took 3
days to complete and got SO many people staring in amazment at Bugjam this
year!! It had no interior whatsoever so we kitted her out with homemeade door
cards and kick panels covered in furry cowhide material. Built a solid bed base
in the rear with the obligatory super duper stereo speakers etc.mounted in the
front panel. Just stolen the old coffee bar from our office and fitted it behind
the drivers seat. Hoping to get the tv and playstation in soon!! Since the
pictures were taken she's had black no plates added and I've changed the roof
over as it leaked on our first trip in the rain! We improvised by setting up one
of those plastic gazebo things over the top of her when we parked up but that
was never a long term solution! Keep adding to the stereo, and I'm fitting a
split charge system soon so she'll start without the assistance of a hill or
some friends pushing!!
A very Orange Westy with matching scooter
submitted by Sam from PFP coachworks - Sams says " The van is a late westy with
a 2.1 Type 4 Pettit engine with twin dellorto 48s and lumpy cam. The van has been totally
rebuilt from the ground up ,dropped approx 7 inches front and rear its as orange
underneath and inside as the outside. It turns a lot of heads and is a great advert
for my company which restores vdubs, funny that eh!!!!
ps - The
ped is a piaggio 80 with full race carbon can and roller transmisssion, sure
beats walkin to the showers at vanfest!" - Now how cool is that? - I want one!
This trike was made by Eryl (not Daz!!) from Wrexham
who bought the most knackered Beetle you could find of me and turned it into
what you see here! Not so much of a problem as most of the Beetle was cut away.
More detail/photo's to follow, plus he has just bought a second Beetle body of
me - we await the re-birth.
Picture of late model T2 Devon - before and
after a lot of hard work by the looks of things, submitted by Sean - Sean send
